CASE STUDY
ConsumerMedical Acquired by Alight Solutions
August 2021
ConsumerMedical is a leading clinical advocacy and expert medical opinion company serving self-insured employers and health plans. TTCP partnered with ConsumerMedical to be the first source of external capital in 2015, as the business had been 100% founder-owned at the time of investment. TTCP believed that ConsumerMedical’s tangible customer ROI and extremely loyal existing customers differentiated its offering from competitors and that the company could build out its sales and marketing and client services functions to drive considerable success. Throughout the life of the investment, TTCP supported ConsumerMedical’s rapid commercial growth by supporting expansion into new end-markets, providing operations support, and leading M&A integration.
Value Creation
- Facilitated significant distribution relationships with multiple health plans and helped shift sales model to leverage health plans
- Led integration process for strategic acquisition, financed via debt from strategic partner
- Provided operations support leading to enhanced pricing, KPIs, and workflow optimization
- Placed influential independent director on the Board of Directions
- Deployed technology advisor to support new platform development and analytics
After nearly 15 years as an independent, bootstrapped company it was a big decision for us to raise capital and bring on a partner. From the first time I met them, TTCP impressed me with their industry knowledge and relationships. During the 6 years we worked together, they were always available to jump in and help, no matter if the news that day was good or bad. Partnering with TT Capital Partners was a great decision for me and ConsumerMedical and I would make the same decision again today.

Results
Over the course of TTCP’s investment, ConsumerMedical grew its revenue more than 450% in six years, expanding into new end-markets and developing multiple distribution relationships with large payers in the process. The company successfully completed a strategic acquisition of InfiniteMD, one of its key vendors, to expand its ability to serve multi-national employers. In 2021, Alight (NYSE: ALIT) acquired ConsumerMedical to enhance its ability to help employees navigate the complex healthcare system and improve health outcomes. Concurrent with this this transaction, TTCP fully exited its investment in the company.
